Are the original subfolders preserved?

No: the sorting starts from the documents, not from the original tree. The “before” column keeps the path each document came from.

Six composable trees, and a 00-a-classer/ folder for whatever the tool could not identify. What is not identified is never filed at random.

A client folder holds everything, flat: income, identity, banking, deeds.

Six trees: by document family, by person, by year, by issuer, by type, and the composition of several levels.
A level that cannot answer disappears: a document with no identified person does not create an “unknown” folder.
00-a-classer/ at the top of the tree: what was not identified is visible first, not diluted at the bottom.
The tree is shown before writing, folder by folder, with how many documents each holds.

What it does not do: the tool deletes nothing, ever, and it merges no files. A document it cannot file stays a document to file, not a lost one.

The type of the document, its person, its issuer and its date: that is what decides the folder.

Find duplicates : Byte-for-byte identicals, scans proposed as duplicates, and the series that are not.
Identify the documents in a folder : A whole folder read at once: the type of each document, its date, its issuer, the person.
Identify one document : One document, one answer, and the clues that produced it.
Rename a folder of files : A naming pattern applied to a whole folder, with the before and after preview and the undo.
Check against a list of expected documents : The heart of the tool: present, missing, doubtful, extra.
